Call for Oral, Poster, and Software Presentations

Participants are invited to submit papers on the following topics:

  • Soil/Weather Data Acquisition, Synthesis, and Delivery
  • Plant/Crop Systems: Biological Processes
  • Plant/Crop Systems: Integration
  • Management and Decision Support Systems
  • Landscape and Watershed Level Systems
  • Building and Maintaining the Bridge: From Research to Technology Transfer

Those wishing to make an oral presentation, display a poster, or demonstrate   software are asked to submit an abstract for each by 31 December 2002. While time constraints may prevent the oral presentation of all abstracts, each abstract submitted by the deadline will be published in the book of abstracts to be provided to each meeting participant.

Student Presentation Competition

Students wishing to participate in Student Presentation Competition should indicate so in their registration.  A panel will judge all the student pesentations, and will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Presentation Formats

  • Oral Presentations

Oral presenters will be chosen from the abstracts submitted based on quality and suitability for a well-balanced program. Due to the limited number of slots for the oral presentations it is possible that some  will need to be made as poster presentations. Twenty minutes will be allocated for each presentation, including 5 minutes for discussion.

  • Poster Presentations

Poster presenters should limit their poster size to 3' high (90 cm) and 4' wide (120 cm). The posters will be attached to  a felt surface board using velcro.

  • Software Demonstrations

Two desktop PC’s will be available for demonstration of modeling software.   Presenters wishing to use a PC computer must contact Tammy Tindel  at IBS@aesrg.tamu.edu as to availability.  Space will also be provided for participants to demonstrate software on their notebook computer. Users may wish to rely on handouts or other materials in conjunction with their demos.

  • Preparation of Abstracts
Abstracts should be single-spaced, in Times Roman 12 point font, have 1.5” margins with a length of no more than two pages.

The title of the abstract should be short but descriptive.

List all authors, indicating the presenting author in Bold. On the next line list Department, Institution, City, and Country. Do not include complete mailing addresses in the abstract. Tables and figures should be produced within the abstract document and not as separate attachments.

Abstracts can be E-mailed as an attachment (MS Word is preferred but WordPerfect is also acceptable) to: IBS@aesrg.tamu.edu

Deadline: Abstracts are due by 31 December 2002.

Integrated Biological Systems: Research, Synthesis, and Management is co-hosted by the Biological Systems Simulation Group (BSSG), the Agroecosystems Research Group (AESRG), the Alternate Crops and Systems Lab (ACSL), and the Cropping Systems Research Lab (CSRL).
