| What is the Scout Master
Program? |
Scout Master,
formerly C.D.E.A. (Cotton Data Entry Analysis tool), is a database management program used
primarily to record Scouting data, but also Crop Management information. Scout Master
provides many useful graphing options in order to evaluate insect populations throughout
the growing season. |

Input Data
In order to provide optimal
benefits, ScoutMaster requires both scouting and crop management data along with
information about each individual field. Information such as the fields name, area,
state, county and owner is used to distinguish each field. The following is an example
data input screen. |

|
| Scouting data estimates the quantity of
beneficial as well as harmful insects for any given field. Examples of this form are:
number of Lady Beetles, number of Spiders, number of Aphids, number of Thrips, number of
Small Armyworms, etc. |

|
| Crop management data involves herbicide,
pesticide, fertilizer and irrigation applications. Scout Master uses this data to provide
cotton producers with information that will allow them to determine the effectiveness of
their pest management system. Examples of this form are: Date of Pesticide Application,
Pesticide Name, Applicators Name and License Number, Weather Data, Amount of Mix
Applied, etc. |

|
Program Output |
| Graph of insect data for one
field- This graph plots the estimated number of a specific insect in one field over
several sampling dates. The user selects the insect, the field and up to 20 sample dates.
The graph may be printed or copied to the computers buffer. Graph of an insect on a sample day for many fields- This graph plots
the estimated population of a specific insect on one day for many fields. The user selects
the insect, up to 20 fields and the sample date. The graph may be printed or copied to the
computers buffer. |
 |
| Graph of an insect for all fields on many sampling dates-
This graph plots the estimated average population of a certain insect over all fields for
each selected sample date. The user selects the insect and the sample dates. This graph
may also be printed or copied to the computers buffer. |
